Speed Reading – Business Lesson 50 Assignment

Ever since starting the RPC Business course, Dr. Gary North has continued to advocate for using a speed reading software. I cannot lie that his points are strong, and I fully agree that it would have phenomenal benefits, but I still don’t do it. I simply possess a lack of motivation.

So, what would motivate me? Well, let’s start with the obvious. Any monetary incentive would be highly motivating. Of course, that’s unrealistic and I have to pick something else.

Throwing money aside, I am also motivated to win. In a competition to improve reading speed, winning would definitely be in my best interest.

Finally, there is self motivation. I’ll admit that I’ve used it in the past, but not consistently. In fact, I used it yesterday, just not for ten minutes. I started this article saying that I lacked motivation, but that’s only a half truth. For the past month, I’ve set myself on improving my typing speed, and throughout that period, I went from typing thirty words per minute to seventy. Since I’ve seen such a drastic improvement in my typing, I’ve wanted to replicate that success in another area. Speed reading seems like the perfect candidate. Ironically, I think that writing this article is the final straw. If that was by design, I commend Dr. Gary North heavily. His tactic worked.
